I'm Doug McMann, the owner and head guide for Skinner Creek Hunts . I have  lived in British Columbia my whole life and I learned to hunt and fish early on. As I hunted into my adult years I dreamed of raising hounds  and owning  my own outfit. With  young kids Colton, and Courtney and my beautiful wife Julie in tow, we left the urban lifestyle and headed for a new adventure in the Chilcotin. Tatlayoko Lake was the place we chose to live and Skinner Creek Guest Ranch was created.

Skinner Creek Guest Ranch is a business that my wife Julie thought up which brings young people from all over the world to enjoy the outdoors and learn English. I picked up work as a carpenter to make ends meet  and soon started guiding for cougar with my hounds.
We started guiding in 2005 and in 2010 I made the steps to purchase the guiding rites from Niut Trails Outfitting . This was a perfect opportunity, as I had spent the last several years guidng for Niut Trails Outfitting, and hunting for myself, learning the area and the outfitting business.

The Dogs

The hounds are a lot like family at Skinner Creek. Between training and hunting the dogs get out at least 200 days a year. This amount of commitment is what it takes to have top notch dogs.
